In the world of watch controversies, nothing tops the Omega Jedi fiasco. Omega collector and historian Chuck Maddox termed Omega's ref. 145.0024 as "The Jedi" due to its blue dial and orange-painted chronograph seconds hand. In the mid-2000's, a Swiss auction house auctioned off a 145.0024 without Maddox's moniker and instead labeled its 176.007 lot as a "Jedi". This mishap has ripped a skism in the Omega collecting community, which now uses the colloquial term interchangeablly between the two reference numbers. Today, we acknowledge the 145.0024 as the "True Jedi" and the 176.007 as the "False Jedi".
